Teacher & Staff Support
Some of the ways in which the PTA supports Northwood's teachers and staff:
Teacher Enrichment Grants
The Mercer Island Schools Foundation and Northwood PTA collaborate each year to award our teachers enrichment grants! Teachers come up with innovative ideas to enrich their students' learning — visiting workshops, inclusive classroom materials and furniture, field trips, and more! Enrichment grants are awarded in late Fall. If you would like to participate in Northwood PTA's Enrichment Grants committee, please email vicepresident@northwoodowlspta.org.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation
Celebrate and thank our amazing Northwood staff at Teacher/Staff Appreciation luncheons and during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Month. Sign up to decorate our Staff Lounge, bring in homemade goodies to share, or help serve lunch to our staff. It is a simple and fun way for us to say “thanks” to our teachers and staff for all they do. Northwood PTA provides four staff luncheons a year: a Welcome luncheon at the start of the school year, and others in November, February and during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
If you'd like to help with one of our staff luncheons, please sign up on our volunteer page, or email staffservices@northwoodowlspta.org.
Room Parents
Northwood PTA organizes a team of room parents for every classroom. Room parents support the work of our teachers by helping to communicate classroom needs with families, organizing class gifts for staff, coordinating volunteer opportunities inside the classroom, and helping create classroom celebrations for events such as Valentine's Day and the end of the year. Thank you Room Parents for all that you do!
If you would like to volunteer as a room parent, please sign up on our volunteer page.
