Northwood Spotlight: Kelsey Sims

2nd Grade Teacher

What grade/area do you teach/support and how long have you been in education?

This is my 7th year teaching second grade at Northwood. Prior to teaching at Northwood, I taught first grade for 2 years at Lakeridge. I am a Mercer Island High School graduate, and it is very special to be teaching in a place where I grew up!

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

My favorite place to vacation would be someone near the water. I find the waves, and water a very relaxing, peaceful place. I like to collect shells from the places I visit to remind me of my trips. 

What are some small things that make your day better?

Some small things that make my day better are enjoying a cup of coffee, a friendly smile or note from someone, and driving with the windows down on a sunny day. 

Tell us about your immediate family and pets. 

I live in Snoqualmie Ridge with my husband, 2 sons, and dog. My oldest son is in Kindergarten, and our youngest is in preschool. We enjoy going on walks together, playing games, and eating popcorn. Both my husband and my family live on Mercer Island so we spend lots of time with relatives on the weekend!
