Northwood Spotlight: Bridget Haba
Secretary

Where are you originally from and what brought you to Mercer Island schools?

I am was born and raised in Bellevue and my husband and his family are from MI.  We came to MI schools from Seattle when our son (a current 10th grader) started Kindergarten.  The North End of MI was pretty much smack in between both of the grandparents.

What is your favorite sport or hobby to do when you are not at school?

Depending on the season, my favorite sports are skiing and tennis. I ski a lot with my family and play competitive league tennis with my husband as well as a women's group.

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Anywhere with my immediate family, but we spend a lot of time up the Icicle Canyon in Leavenworth, WA.

What is the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

The year after I graduated from college, I travelled to three continents either by myself or with a small group of girls. I spent the majority of that time in Central and South America where I learned to scuba dive and dance salsa, toured a Bolivian prison, was stranded on a boat in the Galapagos, hiked to Machu Picchu, and ate some of the best food in Bogota, Columbia I've had to this day.

What are some small things that make your day better?

I love getting hugs from kids (they are teenagers), listening to my son play the piano and sticky notes my husband leaves on my coffee mug when he travels.

If you had the day to yourself, how would you spend it?

I would go for a long walk (or a very short run) and spend some time in my garden or reading a good book in the shade or curled up by the fire.
