2nd Grade Teacher

What grade/area do you teach/support and how long have you been in education?

I've been in education for nine years. I've taught Preschool, pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade. This is my 6th year in 2nd grade, and I absolutely love it! 

Where are you originally from and what brought you to Mercer Island schools?

I'm originally from sunny Southern California. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to Mercer Island in July 2019.  Long story short, my sister convinced my husband to apply to positions in Seattle for years. One day he decided to apply to a few places, and now we're here! We really never imagined ourselves leaving California.

What is your favorite sport or hobby to do when you are not at school?

My favorite sport and hobby would have to be baseball and snowboarding. You can often find me and my family at the Mercer Island Playfields practicing baseball, very casually. I love snowboarding during the winter, but I would love to get better! Oh, and I loved watching the Lakers win the title!

What are some small things that make your day better?

Small things that make my day better is boba milk tea, eating Boiling Point, shopping, or a good Adam Sandler movie! I can always count on those to bring a smile to my face! 

If you had the day to yourself, how would you spend it?

If I had a full day to myself, I would have the house to myself. Ideally, ALL of my students' work would be graded, and all the tasks are done. With that, I would be able to peacefully lay on my couch with my electric blanket, and binge-watching my favorite tv shows/movies!
