Northwood Spotlight: Amy Wick

Learning Support Teacher

What grade/area do you teach/support and how long have you been in education?

I have been a teacher for more than 16 years. I was born and raised in Kirkland, Washington and love living in the PNW! I am the Learning Support Teacher at NW and also the 504 Coordinator. This means I get to work with small groups of kiddos and support them with their reading skills, which is my dream job! I have also taught K, 1st, 3rd and 4th grades. As the 504 Coordinator I work with teachers and families to make sure students have the supports they need to be successful in school. I am also the "Bus Queen" and get to greet students in the mornings as they arrive on buses and send them on their way in the afternoon with a wave!

Tell us about your immediate family and pets.

I have 3 boys, Tristan Kerby who is in 8th grade at IMS, Liam Kerby in 6th grade at IMS and Ayden Wick in 4th grade here at NW. We also have 2 dogs, Versace and Phoenix, both rescued through Path of Hope in Spokane, Wa.

What is your favorite sport or hobby to do when you are not at school?

In my spare time I like to read, crochet (my newest favorite hobby), do puzzles and cook! I'm learning to appreciate and play golf because my husband and oldest son love it, and we are also a football and hockey loving family!

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

As a family we love to go camping near the ocean or on a lake! We love to fish, swim, explore together and have a huge collection of board games we love playing as a family!

What is your favorite thing about Northwood?

I love working at NW, we have such an amazing community of staff, parents and students and I consider it an honor to work with each of you!
